HS-F03A Linear Laser Spotlight Module – Line Projection Source for Alignment and Optical Experiments
The HS-F03A Linear Laser Spotlight Module projects a visible line instead of a simple dot, making it useful for alignment guides, optical experiments, robot positioning, edge detection demonstrations, and structured-light learning projects. A line laser can provide a clear reference across a surface for measurement or visual guidance.
It can be combined with Arduino-compatible controllers such as the ELAB Nano V3, relay or transistor driver circuits, and sensing projects that use the HS-S20B1 Ambient Light Sensor. For status feedback, pair it with the RGB Full Color LED Module.
Laser modules require careful handling. Never point the beam toward eyes, reflective surfaces, vehicles, or public spaces, and use only within the module rating and local safety rules.

Board Layout & Label Guide
- Laser Aperture – Emits the line beam; keep clean and unobstructed.
- VCC – Module power input according to board label.
- GND – Power ground.
- Driver Input – Use a transistor or switch if controlling from a GPIO.
- Mounting Body – Secure firmly to keep the projected line stable.
- Projection Axis – Align the line with the target plane before calibration.
- Safety Label – Treat as a laser source and avoid direct viewing.
- Heat Note – Do not exceed rated voltage or continuous duty if the module warms significantly.
Application Scenarios
1. Arduino Laser On/Off Driver
Switch a laser module through a transistor driver.
const int laserPin = 8;void setup() { pinMode(laserPin, OUTPUT);}void loop() { digitalWrite(laserPin, HIGH); delay(1000); digitalWrite(laserPin, LOW); delay(1000);}
2. Timed Alignment Pulse
Turn on the line only during a measurement window.
const int laserPin = 8;void setup() { pinMode(laserPin, OUTPUT);}void loop() { digitalWrite(laserPin, HIGH); delay(200); digitalWrite(laserPin, LOW); delay(3000);}
3. Light Sensor Line Detection
Use a light sensor to detect when the projected line crosses the target.
const int lightPin = A0;const int laserPin = 8;void setup() { Serial.begin(115200); pinMode(laserPin, OUTPUT); digitalWrite(laserPin, HIGH);}void loop() { Serial.println(analogRead(lightPin)); delay(50);}

FAQ
Q: What pattern does it project?
A: It projects a line rather than a dot.
Q: Can I drive it directly from GPIO?
A: Use a driver if the module current exceeds GPIO limits.
Q: Is it safe for eyes?
A: Avoid all direct and reflected eye exposure.
Q: Can it be used for alignment?
A: Yes, line projection is useful for alignment guides.
Q: Can I PWM dim it?
A: Only if the module driver supports PWM safely.
Q: Why is the line blurry?
A: Distance, focus, surface texture, and mounting angle affect sharpness.
Q: Can it work outdoors?
A: Ambient light can reduce visibility.
Q: What should I verify before use?
A: Voltage, current, mounting, beam direction, and safety controls.
