The HPE 256MB FWBC Cache Adapter (part number 462974-001) is a plug-in memory module designed to enhance data integrity on supported Smart Array RAID controllers. Instead of relying on battery-backed technology, this module uses a flash-backed cache paired with a supercapacitor, ensuring that any cached data is safely written to flash in the event of unexpected power loss. Its 256 MB of DDR2 memory provides solid performance for mid-range storage needs.

This adapter is compatible with Smart Array P212, P410, and P411 controllers, and is supported across a broad range of HPE ProLiant servers from the G5, G6, and G7 generations. Its plug-and-play form factor allows for quick installation, and its flash-backed design eliminates battery maintenance concerns. It’s a reliable and cost-effective solution for improving RAID performance and securing write operations.
