HS-S07A Flame Sensor – Infrared Fire Detection Module for Arduino Alarm and Safety Demos
The HS-S07A Flame Sensor is an infrared-sensitive fire detection module for flame alarm demonstrations, safety education, robot firefighting projects, and ignition-source detection experiments. It detects flame-related IR light and provides an electrical output for microcontroller logic.
It can be connected to the ELAB Nano V3, warning outputs such as the RGB Full Color LED Module, or relay-controlled buzzers and fans. Use it as a learning sensor rather than a certified fire-safety device.
Flame sensors are affected by sunlight, incandescent lamps, viewing angle, and distance. Always test with safe controlled sources and never rely on hobby modules for life-safety fire detection.

Board Layout & Label Guide
- IR Flame Sensor – Aim toward the monitored area.
- Signal Pin – Output to GPIO or ADC depending on board.
- VCC – Power input.
- GND – Ground.
- Comparator/Potentiometer – Some boards allow threshold adjustment.
- Indicator LED – Shows detection state on many modules.
- Viewing Angle – Mount with clear line of sight.
- Safety Note – Use safe flame sources only during testing.
Application Scenarios
1. Arduino Digital Input
Read the flame sensor digital output.
const int sensorPin = 2;void setup() { Serial.begin(115200); pinMode(sensorPin, INPUT);}void loop() { Serial.println(digitalRead(sensorPin)); delay(100);}
2. LED Event Output
Turn on an LED when the module is flame detected.
const int sensorPin = 2;const int ledPin = 13;void setup() { pinMode(sensorPin, INPUT); pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT);}void loop() { digitalWrite(ledPin, digitalRead(sensorPin));}
3. MicroPython GPIO Monitor
Monitor the digital output from a Pico-style board.
from machine import Pinimport timesensor = Pin(15, Pin.IN)while True: print(sensor.value()) time.sleep(0.1)

FAQ
Q: Is this a certified fire alarm?
A: No, it is for hobby and education projects.
Q: What does it detect?
A: Infrared light associated with flame.
Q: Can sunlight trigger it?
A: Yes, strong IR sources may cause false detection.
Q: Can I use it with Arduino?
A: Yes.
Q: Does it measure temperature?
A: No, it detects light, not temperature.
Q: Can I adjust sensitivity?
A: If the board has a potentiometer, yes.
Q: Where should it face?
A: Toward the flame area with clear line of sight.
Q: What should I avoid?
A: Unsafe flame tests and life-safety reliance.
